SABR follows FIFA Laws of the Game with Florida Youth Soccer Association mandated adjustments for Youth Rec. Infractions and red cards by players and non-players are addressed per the SABR Discipline Chart.
We also have specific SABR rules below to participate in our Youth Rec Program, rules of conduct, involuntary dismissal, equipment required, jewelry and prohibited casts.
The SABR Youth Soccer Handbook is your go-to resource for program details. Check the Handbook for answers to most questions. If needed, consult your coach before reaching out to a volunteer administrator.

PLAYER PARTICIPATION
SABR requires a minimum amount of participation for every player.
Each physically able player must play at least 50% of every game. U5–U8: All players can play the entire match. U9+: Roster sizes ensure no one plays less than half when all attend. No permanent starters or subs.
RULES OF CONDUCT
Coaches are responsible for the behavior of assistants, volunteers, and fans. Arguing with referees or entering the field without permission is prohibited and can lead to at least a one-game suspension. SABR administrators serve as field marshals—please follow their directives.
INVOLUNTARY DISMISSAL
Violators may be expelled by the referee or league officials, and refusal to leave can result in a team forfeit. Additional sanctions are listed in the SABR Handbook and the Discipline Chart (below). For injuries, the referee decides whether to stop play and may allow a coach to attend. Parents and fans must stay off the field unless permitted by the referee or coach.
EQUIPMENT
Players must have shin guards and soccer/athletic shoes (rubber cleats recommended). Metal or baseball-style toe cleats are prohibited. Elastic-strapped sports eyewear is recommended. Players should bring a soccer ball to practice. Shin guards must be worn under socks during all practices and games. Insurance does not cover injuries without proper equipment.
JEWELRY & CASTS
Remove all piercings and potentially dangerous jewelry before games or practice. If a player has bandaged earlobes, it’s assumed earrings are underneath, and they cannot play. Hard or soft casts are prohibited. Any medical device that might be harmful requires SABR approval. The referee has final authority on player eligibility.
