How to become a Referee

SABR needs qualified referees to manage dozens of games each week. In this section you will learn the requirements to get certified as a referee, who to contact with questions, how to request and receive weekly game assignments, and forms required to receive your payments.

Requrements to be a SABR Referee
  • At least 14 years old (due to Florida labor laws)
  • Certified by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) via Florida State Referees (FSR) and recertified annually.
  • Complete all learning modules on the Laws of the Game
    • Safe Soccer module Includes an annual background check if you are 18 or over.
  • 5 hours for certifying and 3 hours for recertifying.
